Bus travel between Belconnen and Canberra City Center has now been improved by a newly built transit way.
The Government has spent $10.5 million on a dedicated bus lane from Clunies Ross Street along Barry Drive to Kingsley Street and a new bus station at City West.
The new bus station development at the Australian National University (ANU) splits the inbound and outbound platforms into two locations.
The inbound platform is adjacent to the ANU New student accommodation buildings and the outbound platform is adjacent to Latin American Plaza at Marcus Clarke Street.
Shane Rattenbury, Minister for Territory and Municipal Services said that the upgrade results in less travel time for the passengers.
The minister also said that this is one of the busiest routes and around 25 percent people travel through buses. By building transit way the buses are out of car lanes.
The buses will be starting from Saturday on this new transit lane. The lane is almost complete except few minor works at Barry Drive for next few weeks.
