Family Offerings and Better Food Are the Cruise Trends for 2013

Cruise lines are getting ready to include a wide focus on multi-generated groups and specialty food offerings with thorough efforts to please passengers with an on-board aquapark and vertical garden together with a glass walkway.


The new ships launching in 2013 are the Norwegian Breakaway and the Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess that are scheduled to launch in May and June respectively.

Breakaways exterior offers five multi-story water slides, an aqua park and an open air quarter mile boardwalk. The ship can accommodate 4028 guests and sails a week-long to Bermuda from 6th October.

The Royal Princess features the seawalk and a jogging tract. The glass bottom walkway is 128 feet above the ocean and 28 feet beyond the edge of the ship. The ship can accommodate 3600 passengers. It is described as just for adults with private cabanas and steward service. The ship sails from Southampton, England and goes through Spain and Portugal followed by Mediterranean and Caribbean.

The most important thing common about both ships is they reveal the new trend of being outside all the time. These cruises are particularly perfect for a vacation for parents, kids and grandparents as they can engage themselves in various activities onboard or on shore excursion. The cruise ships offer everything for the travelers ranging from planetariums, skating rinks to climbing walls.

The Carnival Cruises offer passengers the experience of TV-quality game shows together with 3D movies in the theatres that are equipped with motion seats and offer latest special effects such as the wind and water effects.

Spokeswoman Mimi Weisband said that Crystal Cruises noted an increase of 30 percent in family groups in 2012.

Even though the cruise industry recommended using travel agents for booking tickets, with an increase in the number of travelers, consumers now prefer to book their tickets through the company’s website.
